Video-mapping for the Campoamor Theater facade in Oviedo (Spain). A joint project of Art School and City Hall for “La noche blanca” festival.
Recycling vectorial images from Main Shafts series, I developed a 2D animation video about 1 minute long specifically designed to project on the front facade of the Teatro Campoamor, playing with the shape of these industrial structures and organization of levels and windows in the facade. I attempted to overcome the more common and showy effects, while trying to integrate both elements taking the most of this double limitation of facade structure and a previously given vector files.
This work is not without some critical comment about a concrete sociopolitical situation, the use of resources and the searching for alternative future in a post-industrial scenario. Simple elements are used with some irony for create an ambient that might remind the theme park tunnel, the slot machine, psychedelic trip, getaways from the announced reality of closure of the mine shafts, symbols of an strong economic activity, now in total decline, that marked and forever changed the history and character of my home region.
